Melodies-Monet Enhancement

Beiming Tang

Extended the capabilities of the Melodies-Monet model evaluation tool by developing four new features: Scorecard, Multi-Boxplot, CSI Plot, and Ozone Sonde Plot. Additionally, expanded the evaluation scope from the original 5 gas species to include 28 gas and aerosol species through new methodological developments.

CONUS NO₂ 1 km Dataset (2017–2020)

Produced a high-resolution (1 km) daily surface NO₂ dataset over the CONUS domain using machine learning, trained on a four-year archive of GMU’s 20-year CMAQ simulation results.

DAFCOM

Beiming Tang

Developed a machine learning–based forecasting application integrated with NOAA’s UFS-AQM system. Demonstrated significantly improved performance compared to both the original UFS-AQM outputs and NOAA PSL’s statistical bias correction method. Currently being transitioned toward operational use for real-time hourly PM₂.₅ surface concentration forecasts up to 24 hours ahead.
